EasyTables turns a Tableau worksheet into a practical table for people who need to scan, compare, filter, group, and export detailed data. It keeps the workflow inside Tableau while providing the controls expected from a modern operational table.

What EasyTables does

  • Sort, search, paginate, copy, and filter individual columns.
  • Rename, reorder, resize, hide, freeze, and pin columns.
  • Apply number, date, label, tooltip, and conditional formatting rules.
  • Build nested row groups with expandable sections and subtotals.
  • Create crosstab and pivot layouts with grouped headers and total columns.
  • Save author-defined views and reusable filter presets.
  • Offer controlled viewer customisation without changing the author configuration.
  • Export the displayed result to Excel with formatting and formula-injection protection.

Built for real dashboard workflows

EasyTables is useful when a Tableau dashboard needs more than a static crosstab: operational lists, finance tables, product and customer detail, exception monitoring, grouped reporting, or a downloadable view that remains consistent with the dashboard.

The extension is a Tableau Viz Extension, so authors bind dimensions and measures directly through the Marks card. Configuration stays with the workbook and can be reused by viewers according to the options chosen by the author.

Data access and privacy

The standard table view uses Tableau summary data. EasyTables can request Full Data access for exact non-additive calculations such as AVG and COUNTD and for advanced pivot aggregation. Tableau controls this permission and administrators can allow, deny, or safe-list the extension.

All worksheet processing happens locally inside the Tableau browser context. EasyTables does not transmit worksheet data, field values, workbook contents, analytics, or telemetry to Data & Beyond or to third-party services. Author configuration is stored in Tableau workbook settings; optional viewer state can be stored in an author-selected Tableau string parameter.

Compatibility

  • Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Cloud with Viz Extensions support
  • Minimum Tableau Extensions API version: 1.12
  • Hosted over HTTPS at easy-tables.databeyond.app
  • Full Data permission required for exact non-additive aggregation features
