EasyTables Release Notes

Annual licences have been on sale since 1 October 2026, and EasyTables Free since 6 October 2026. Notes for earlier versions describe availability at the time of each release; current plans are in the licence and purchase terms.

1.41.1 — 8 October 2026

  • On Tableau Server, a new workbook built in the browser starts EasyTables Free for its site instead of asking for an activation code.
  • Browsers that hide the Tableau address, such as Firefox ESR on hardened Servers, use the address Tableau itself reports to the extension.
  • Tableau Desktop sends one anonymous launch count per opened sheet, and a page that EasyTables has to block before its access check sends one anonymous reason code. Neither carries an account, address, workbook or data; the privacy notice lists both.

1.41.0 — 6 October 2026

  • EasyTables Free: on Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud, up to 10 accounts a month use EasyTables with no time limit. It starts on its own; on Tableau Cloud an author opens the workbook in Edit mode once. It replaces the evaluation and the Community plan on request.
  • Table settings and View options show the free version, this month’s account count and a link to buy a licence. The 11th account of a month sees a purchase window instead of the table until the next month begins.
  • The access check sends a one-way hash of the Tableau account ID for the monthly count, never the ID itself. The privacy notice describes what is stored and for how long.
  • Calculated fields recompute when a dimension is hidden, use readable automatic decimals and keep focus while you type. Pivot Avg and CountD no longer stay at “Calculating…”, and copied negative numbers no longer start with an apostrophe.

1.40.13 — 1 October 2026

  • Totals stay aligned under their columns while the settings panel is open beside a table that fills the width.
  • Replacing an activation code shows one clear form, and code management appears before the older pilot licence panel.

1.40.12 — 1 October 2026

  • Paid access stops at the confirmed licence end, even if a delayed payment update has not reached the licensing service yet.
  • Authors can replace an inactive workbook activation code or switch codes in the settings panel without losing table settings.
  • A revoked older Server registration no longer hides a separate valid licence for the same site.

1.40.6–1.40.11 — 30 September 2026

  • 1.40.11: Tableau Cloud authors can choose a previously verified activation code from the same browser when they set up another workbook. Purchase and activation pages use the main site’s theme and link styles.
  • 1.40.10: Authors receive the final access warning after a cancelled subscription expires. Server site access ignores inactive licences, and Pivot explains when an existing column overflow blocks a row change.
  • 1.40.9: An activated Tableau Server site opens new workbooks without the same code again when the site address is visible to the extension. Pivot reports the correct row or column limit.
  • 1.40.8: Renewing subscriptions no longer show an ending warning. Authors see a payment message only when a payment needs attention, and a cancelled licence is announced before it ends.
  • 1.40.7: A suspended site licence explains the next step to authors and viewers without asking for a new activation code.
  • 1.40.6: Authors see a quiet warning when paid access is approaching its end; viewers continue to see only the table. When an account limit blocks access, the message explains the next step and keeps saved table settings.

1.40.5 — 29 September 2026

  • Pivot now checks the generated row and column count before accepting a field. An over-limit choice leaves the current table visible and tells the user how to adjust the layout.
  • Switching Custom Views no longer carries a hidden Table filter into the next view. Older workbooks retain a conflicting Table grouping as a recovered saved layout.
  • Licence refreshes apply provider decisions in order, and group formatting changes preserve the accessible expansion state.

Recent interface updates

  • 1.40.4: Field cell tooltips also appear on Pivot values; Pivot sorting, subtotals, group colours and row-detail sizing are more consistent.
  • 1.40.2: Custom Views restore theme, Pivot sort, filters and page size. JSON import retains parameter bindings.
  • 1.40.0: Row grouping moved into Pivot. Table remains a flat list; older grouped workbooks migrate with their row fields and total measures.
  • 1.39.0–1.39.2: Group labels and totals avoid clipping, sorting affordances are clearer, and Tableau Detail/Tooltip fields retain their roles.
  • 1.38.0: A workbook activation code supports Server or Cloud sites whose exact address is hidden from extensions.

The extension’s What’s new panel contains the individual notes for each version.

1.37.1 — 23 September 2026

  • Larger summary-data reads request one page ahead, with at most two page requests in flight. Rows are still appended in source order. An error or cancellation ends the active load promptly; the old reader is released after its started requests finish. Page size and data-change handling are unchanged. This is a loading-path improvement, not a measured speed claim for Tableau Server or Cloud.
  • Tableau Server authoring URLs now resolve to the same exact site as the corresponding view, so editing an approved workbook can pass the same access check. Ambiguous or malformed addresses remain blocked.
  • Pivot field strips, field pickers and empty-state guidance follow the selected English or Russian interface language.

1.37.0 — 23 September 2026

  • Top/Bottom N and colour scales compare the values shown after filtering. Pivot columns rank their own aggregates, including their separate TOTAL column; group subtotals compare peers at the same level. Changing a rule repaints group headers without collapsing them.
  • Five light themes style the table, settings and menus together: Classic Blue, Calm Slate, Ocean, Warm Paper and High Contrast. Explicit conditional-format colours stay intact.
  • Authors choose the default theme. A viewer can select a personal theme or follow the author; with an author-configured String parameter, Tableau Custom Views can preserve that choice. Without the parameter, the choice lasts for the current view session.

Desktop authoring remains free. Server and Cloud access checks and commercial availability remain as described below. Tableau Cloud acceptance is still pending.

1.36.0 — 23 September 2026

  • Table grouping and Pivot use the same compact field strip, field menus and searchable picker. The Pivot demo keeps Rows, Columns and Values on one line at its intended width.
  • Table groups and Pivot rows are configured independently. Existing layouts are migrated, and an explicit action copies Table groups into Pivot rows without changing the Table layout.
  • Group rows retains detail records with collapsible subtotals. Pivot aggregates them into a cross-tab with separate Rows, Columns and Values.

Desktop authoring remains free. Server and Cloud access checks, deployment approval, and commercial availability remain as described for 1.35.0 below.

1.35.0 — 23 September 2026

  • Public access checks now read an owner-approved exact Tableau address/site. Opening an unregistered board cannot start a trial, occupy account slots or change another site’s context. A 30-day evaluation can be provisioned privately after the Tableau owner is verified.
  • Automatic access requests no longer send an account identifier or write monthly usage slots. Earlier trial and pseudonymous usage records are retained as history. The Free 10-account boundary is contractual until a trustworthy measurement method is approved; it is not an automatic hard cutoff based on browser assertions.
  • Data bars now scale against the displayed grain after hiding fields, filtering, grouping or pivoting. The bundled Tableau SDK is updated to 1.17.0, with explicit rejection of ambiguous Cloud or hardened Server site context.

Desktop authoring remains free. One common manifest continues to work across approved sites and entitlements. Checkout and automatic paid fulfillment are still disabled. Real Tableau Cloud acceptance is pending.

1.34.0 — 21 September 2026

  • Server and Cloud check access before reading worksheet data. A new exact Tableau address and site receive a 30-day trial, followed by Free access for up to 10 active accounts per UTC calendar month.
  • Changing or reinstalling a manifest does not turn off the check or restart the trial. Registered paid capacity applies centrally to approved sites.
  • Desktop authoring keeps a free local preview. A failed initial check, denial or expired decision blocks the published table and export; saved settings remain intact.
  • Temporary outages retain only the existing decision until its original expiry, at most five minutes. Late data responses cannot restore a table after access is withdrawn.
  • Access checks send deployment and opaque account identifiers, never worksheet values. The EasyTables privacy notice describes current processing and retained historical records.

Paid checkout and automatic paid fulfillment are not live. Cloud acceptance is still pending; local browser tests are not a substitute for that check.

1.33.4 — 20 September 2026

  • The extension opens at https://easy-tables.databeyond.app/.
  • Adding a viewer-hidden field to Pivot restores its visibility while preserving saved settings and author restrictions.
  • Narrow pivot columns leave more room for measure headings across system fonts.

1.33.3 — 20 September 2026

  • Opening licence settings no longer reads the Tableau account identifier. A manual usage check remains a separate author action.
  • Prepared central organization/deployment licence resolution, using the same manifest across dashboards. Automatic discovery and collection remain disabled.
  • Paid checkout and public customer trials are not enabled by this release.

1.33.2 — 20 September 2026

Closing settings now cancels an in-flight online licence check so a late response cannot change the counter when settings reopen. Licence saving remains independent.

1.33.1 — Controlled online checks

  • Load a signed licence from a file and verify it for the current Tableau Server.
  • Authors can explicitly check the monthly account counter. Automatic usage collection is not enabled.
  • The check transmits limited licence/account/deployment identifiers, not worksheet values. See the EasyTables privacy notice.

1.33.0 — Local licensing diagnostics

  • Added the offline licence panel and local Tableau identity diagnostics.
  • Licence activation remains separate from transferred table settings.
  • Tables and exports remain available when a licence check fails.

Self-service trials, paid checkout and automatic commercial enforcement are not enabled by these releases. See current licensing information.

1.30.44 - 15 July 2026

Tableau Exchange release candidate.

Changes since 1.30.43

  • Adopted proprietary first-party licensing while preserving all bundled third-party licence notices.
  • Aligned the manifest, listing metadata, repository metadata, product page, and legal terms on version 1.30.44.
  • No runtime behaviour, data access, network access, or telemetry behaviour changed in this patch.

Security and privacy

  • No worksheet data, field values, usage analytics, or telemetry are sent to the publisher.
  • Runtime dependencies remain pinned and hosted with the extension.
  • The manifest continues to declare Full Data permission and uses HTTPS hosting.
