Head of BI | Building & Scaling Analytics Platforms, Teams and Automation from Scratch

Scaled the BI function I originally launched from a one-person initiative to a 20-person department serving 1000+ users and ~1000 dashboards across internal and external clients.

• Hired, onboarded and developed every team member in BI function.
• Evolved the platform into a governed enterprise environment (security hardening, access automations, monitoring, delivery SLAs etc).
• Designed and shipped custom Tableau extensions to close functional gaps beyond standard Tableau capabilities.
• Established a BI-as-a-Product operating model: style guide, metadata pipelines, internal dashboards for platform health and adoption.
• Implemented AI-assisted development practices, accelerating delivery of custom tools and automation across the function.

Joined as the first BI hire to build the Tableau analytics function within the Data Department from the ground up.

• Defined the BI product vision and launched the first production environment.
• Delivered initial dashboards and reporting standards that became the foundation for the department's scale-up.
• Established metadata monitoring from the very beginning (tracking user engagement, license usage, server events to manage the platform as a product).

• Designed an extensive Tableau training course with 16 lessons, guiding students from introductory to intermediate levels.
• Conducted 100+ webinars for 100+ students, evaluated their homework and projects.

Conducted training for BI teams and educated employees on effective Tableau use as a mentor and consultant.

• Developed an upskilling program to enhance mentees' skills and guided junior devs.
• Provided consultation on Tableau implementation, helping companies overcome data analysis and visualization challenges.

• Created and optimized 20+ reports, managed Tableau Server Administration and contributed to BI style guide development.
• Implemented a User Management Report using Tableau REST API and Python, resulting in identification of 50+ underutilized accounts and irrational usage of 5+ data sources.

• Handled diverse tasks including collaborating with business stakeholders, preparing data sources and developing Tableau reports covering 400+ end-users with my products.
• Supported 5 internal departments by creating and maintaining BI tools (20+ dashboards) to enhance performance.

As a full-stack Tableau developer, I achieved the following:

• Developed and delivered 20+ high-impact Tableau reports, including designing dashboards, integrating interactive elements, managing row-level security, preparing of data sources in SQL and presenting dashboards to 50+ end-users.
• Streamlined Tableau Server administration, managing permissions for ~3000 users, creating auto-updated user groups and optimizing background tasks for improved performance.

As part of the Sales & Marketing and Airport Operations teams, I led the comprehensive development of the regional office, where I achieved:

• Built 3 reports using MicroStrategy DWH, Midas, and Power BI to conduct competitor analysis, uncovering 10–15% fare adjustment opportunities that boosted profitability by 12% and passenger traffic by 8%.
• Generated an operational performance report that identified flight delays caused by handling companies' organizational issues, enabling SLA negotiations that reduced service costs for Turkish Airlines by 15% and improved on-time performance.
• Awarded first place twice in the Corporate Innovation and Projects Directorate for valuable ideas, with a total of 7 submitted ideas.
• Trained 5 new employees, enhancing team skills and operational efficiency.
